Punjab Kings (PBKS) rode on stellar batting performances from Prabhsimran Singh and Captain Shreyas Iyer to secure a dominant win over Mumbai Indians (MI). Prabhsimran smashed an unbeaten 80 off just 39 balls, while Iyer contributed a fluent 66 from 35 deliveries, underlining their importance to the team’s campaign.

The knock has propelled Prabhsimran to fifth place in the Orange Cap standings. He now sits behind leader Virat Kohli, with Heinrich Klaasen, Rajat Patidar, and Ishan Kishan occupying the spots in between. The PBKS opener has been in impressive form, registering scores of 37, 43, 51, and 80* across four innings. He has amassed 211 runs at a striking rate of 172.95.

Iyer, too, has been a pillar of consistency. His scores of 18, 50, 69*, and 66 have taken his tally to 203 runs, placing him sixth on the leaderboard. Together, the duo has been central to PBKS’s strong performances so far in the tournament.

Meanwhile, Rajasthan Royals’ Vaibhav Sooryavanshi, who had briefly held the top spot, has slipped to seventh after a duck earlier this week.

In the race for the Purple Cap, there has been little movement among the top contenders. However, Shardul Thakur has broken into the top ten following his wicket of Iyer, taking his tally to six wickets. He is now level with Jacob Duffy and Vaibhav Arora.

The wicket-taking chart continues to be led by Prasidh Krishna and Anshul Kamboj, both with ten wickets. Close behind are Prince Yadav and Ravi Bishnoi with nine wickets each. Jofra Archer, along with Bhuvneshwar Kumar and Krunal Pandya, are tied with seven wickets apiece, keeping the competition tight as the tournament progresses.
