Admiral D K Joshi, Hon’ble Lt. Governor of A&N Islands, inaugurated three new buses for the Transport Department at Lok Niwas. This ceremony, attended by senior A&N Administration officers, marks the beginning of a total order of 17 buses, aimed at enhancing public transport in Rangat, Mayabunder, and Diglipur to alleviate the local bus shortage.
The Transport Department plans to enhance its public transportation service with the arrival of six new buses next week and eight more by the end of the month, deploying them based on operational needs. This initiative is part of a phased procurement plan aimed at modernizing the STS fleet, particularly to improve connectivity in the North & Middle Andaman and Nicobar districts. The department emphasizes its commitment to reliable and efficient transport for residents in rural areas and outlying islands who heavily depend on bus services.
