Canara Bank reported a standalone net profit of ₹4,855.82 crore for the quarter ended June 30, 2026, marking a 2.2 per cent year-on-year growth compared with the same period last year. The public sector lender also recorded strong growth in its core income, with net interest income (NII) rising 13.4 per cent to ₹10,215.27 crore during the first quarter of FY27.

The bank’s net interest income increased from ₹9,008.76 crore in the year-ago quarter, supported by growth in interest earnings. Interest earned rose 6.3 per cent to ₹32,957.04 crore, while interest expenses increased 3.4 per cent to ₹22,741.77 crore.

Canara Bank’s total income during the quarter grew 4.3 per cent to ₹39,684.26 crore. However, other income declined 4.7 per cent to ₹6,727.22 crore from ₹7,060.48 crore recorded in the corresponding quarter.

Operating expenses increased 10.5 per cent to ₹8,306.63 crore, while operating profit before provisions and contingencies rose marginally by 1 per cent to ₹8,635.86 crore. The bank’s operating margin stood at 21.76 per cent.

The lender witnessed improvement in asset quality, with provisions declining 11.5 per cent to ₹2,080.04 crore. Provisions for non-performing assets fell 24.2 per cent to ₹1,399.33 crore, reflecting better credit conditions.

Profit before tax increased 5.7 per cent to ₹6,555.82 crore, while earnings per share improved to ₹5.35 from ₹5.24. The bank’s performance reflects steady growth in core banking operations and improved management of asset quality.
