With just one match left, the ongoing season of the IPL will conclude on Sunday right after the final. Arriving at this final leg, the Indian Cricket Board has issued a new directive for players and support staff. No one will be allowed to wear smartwatches and smart glasses during the final match. Since activities like live-streaming matches, sending messages, and making audio-video calls are possible through these two items, both types of equipment have been banned for the time being.
During IPL matches, communication remains prohibited in certain areas of the stadium. Making phone calls from such locations is also an offense. However, there are certain modern devices from which communication is still possible, and smartwatches and smart glasses are among them.
Following the advice of the anti-corruption unit, the Board has imposed a ban on wearing these two types of devices. From now on, no player or support staff member can wear these two types of devices in certain specified areas of the stadium. The Board has been issuing various directives from time to time right from the beginning this season. Even amidst that, players and team officials have violated rules. This time, the Board’s attention has turned to watches and glasses. Good sense has prevailed at the very final stage.
