Indian automotive giant Maruti Suzuki India has scripted history by registering its highest-ever monthly sales in May 2026. The automaker reported a phenomenal 34.76 percent year-on-year growth, dispatching a record-breaking 242,688 units compared to 180,077 units in the same month last year.

Driven by strong consumer demand, the company’s domestic sales also scaled an all-time high of 193,535 units, marking a massive leap from the 138,690 units sold in May 2025. Additionally, supplies to other Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEMs) contributed 7,239 units to the monthly total.

The sales surge was visible across all major segments. The entry-level mini segment, featuring the Alto and S-Presso, more than doubled its performance, skyrocketing to 16,275 units from 6,776 units in the previous year. The highly popular compact segment—which includes the Swift, Baleno, and WagonR—remained a volume driver, climbing to 81,555 units. Meanwhile, Maruti’s utility vehicle portfolio, bolstered by models like the Brezza, Grand Vitara, and the e Vitara, recorded a major jump to 79,267 units.

The growth story extended into commercial and overseas markets as well. The Eeco van posted steady growth at 13,240 units, while Super Carry commercial vehicle sales rose to 3,198 units. Capping off this stellar monthly performance, Maruti Suzuki’s export markets witnessed an impressive surge, jumping to 41,914 units against 31,219 units in May 2025.

With record-shattering numbers across domestic, commercial, and global fronts, Maruti Suzuki has firmly solidified its dominant position in the automotive industry as it moves further into 2026.
