Dr. Syama Prasad Mookerjee played a key role in saving West Bengal from Pakistan’s bloody clutches. Paying tribute to the founder of Bharatiya Jana Sangh on his 125th birth anniversary, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath made this remark.
Speaking at an event organized in Lucknow on Monday after offering floral tributes to Dr. Syama Prasad Mookerjee’s portrait, Yogi said, _”The same West Bengal, which Dr. Syama Prasad Mookerjee played a key role in saving from Pakistan’s bloody clutches, is now under the rule of the Bharatiya Janata Party. The double-engine government is carrying forward the work of preserving and restoring all places associated with him.”
Calling Mookerjee a great son of Mother India”and one of the fighters of the freedom struggle,” Yogi Adityanath paid tribute to him.
Meanwhile, in Delhi, BJP MP Manoj Tiwari said, The industrial policy presented by Dr. Syama Prasad Mookerjee in 1948 was based on the ideal of self-reliance. Prime Minister Narendra Modi is still taking that ideal forward and working for the development of the country and its people.”
Delhi Assembly Speaker Vijender Gupta also paid tribute to Mookerjee and said, _”Dr. Syama Prasad Mookerjee sacrificed everything for the unity and integrity of the country. The vision he presented nearly 75 years ago has now been realized. Article 370 has been completely abrogated and the people of Kashmir are witnessing a new chapter.”
Earlier, Prime Minister Narendra Modi also paid tribute on social media platform X, calling Dr. Syama Prasad Mookerjee “one of India’s greatest nation builders.” The Prime Minister said that his contributions in the fields of national unity, education and industrial development continue to be a source of inspiration in the journey to build a developed India.
Dr. Syama Prasad Mookerjee was born in Kolkata on July 6, 1901. He founded the Bharatiya Jana Sangh in 1951. This organization is later considered the ideological predecessor of the Bharatiya Janata Party.
