Commercial vehicle manufacturer Ashok Leyland has partnered with Rosmerta Recycling to establish a seamless and customer-friendly vehicle scrappage ecosystem for old commercial vehicles across India. The initiative supports the Central Government’s voluntary vehicle modernisation programme, which encourages the replacement of ageing and polluting vehicles with cleaner, more fuel-efficient alternatives.

Under the partnership, Ashok Leyland will utilise its nationwide dealer network to connect customers with Rosmerta Recycling’s Registered Vehicle Scrapping Facilities (RVSFs). The service will provide end-to-end assistance, including vehicle scrapping, deregistration, and completion of all required statutory documentation, making the process more convenient for vehicle owners.

Rosmerta Recycling operates authorised scrappage centres across the country, ensuring that end-of-life vehicles are dismantled safely, in compliance with environmental regulations, while maximising the recovery and reuse of recyclable materials. The initiative is expected to contribute to India’s circular economy by promoting responsible recycling practices.

Ashok Leyland said the collaboration addresses the growing need for an organised and transparent scrappage system, as a significant number of commercial vehicles in the country have reached the end of their operational life.

Customers participating in the programme will benefit from competitive value for their old vehicles, manufacturer discounts on the purchase of new Ashok Leyland commercial vehicles linked to scrappage, and eligible waivers on road tax and registration fees under applicable government policies. The partnership is expected to accelerate the adoption of cleaner commercial vehicles while supporting environmental sustainability and improving the overall efficiency of India’s transport sector.
