Counting of votes for the high- stakes West Bengal Assembly choices began on Sunday, setting the stage for a decisive political verdict that will determine whether Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee- led Trinamool Congress (TMC) secures a fourth successive term or the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) makes a major entry into power in the State.
Early trends indicate a strong caching by the BJP, which has crossed the halfway mark in original leads and opened up a conspicuous gap over the ruling TMC. still, TMC leaders have prompted caution, describing the early trends as ā questionable ā and advising against unseasonable claims of a landslide outgrowth.
The State went to the pates after an violent, month-long crusade marked by sharp political exchanges and high namer engagement. As counting progresses, all eyes remain on whether the TMC can retain its dominance or if the BJP can convert its early instigation into a corner palm.
Meanwhile, the CPI( M) and the Congress are also nearly tracking the results, aiming to recapture some political ground after suffering a near-complete wipeout in the 2021 Assembly choices.
