Captagon is an amphetamine-based drug which has become notorious worldwide for its prolific illegal manufacturing and smuggling, particularly throughout the Middle East. It is often called the “captagon pill.” The unprecedented seizure stops a dangerous new chemical threat from gaining ground in the country, security agencies said. Shah lauded the joint efforts of the law enforcement and intelligence agencies involved in the operation and reaffirmed the government’s firm stance on a “zero-tolerance” approach towards drug trafficking.
After the seizure, federal investigative agencies began a wide-ranging, multi-agency investigation to determine the source of the shipment, its destination, and the local networks that helped move it. Authorities are working with international narcotics control bureaus to map the broader transnational syndicates behind the smuggling effort.
