A joint team of Government Railway Police (GRP) and the Railway Protection Force (RPF) apprehended 15 illegal migrants from Bangladesh at New Bongaigaon Junction Railway Station on Wednesday.
The Bangladeshi nationals, comprising seven men, four women and four children, were detained from Amarnath Express.
Preliminary investigation indicate that the group boarded the train in Guwahati and were travelling to Jammu and Kashmir. Arrested individuals were engaged in rag-picking activities and some of the apprehended individuals had previously travelled to Jammu and Kashmir.
A joint interrogation is underway and further details will be known only after the completion of their questioning, an official said.
