A IndiGo flight operating from Lucknow to Delhi was delayed on Friday after a hoax bomb threat was reported shortly before take-off, airport officials said.

The flight, carrying around 180 passengers, was scheduled to depart at 10:45 am. According to sources cited by PTI, the crew of IndiGo flight 6E 2111 received information about a possible security threat just before departure, prompting immediate action.

Following the alert, the aircraft was held at the apron, and security personnel conducted a thorough inspection of the plane and surrounding areas as part of standard precautionary procedures. During the search, a tissue paper with the word “bomb” written on it was reportedly found in the aircraft lavatory, triggering initial panic. However, officials later confirmed that no explosive material or any suspicious substance was discovered, and the threat was declared a hoax.

An IndiGo spokesperson stated that the airline followed established security protocols immediately after the alert was received. Relevant authorities were informed without delay, and comprehensive security checks were carried out in coordination with them.

The airline further said that the aircraft would resume its journey to Delhi only after receiving necessary clearances. IndiGo also expressed regret over the inconvenience caused to passengers and said it was making arrangements to minimise disruption by providing refreshments and timely updates.

Authorities have confirmed that further legal and security procedures are underway to determine the origin of the hoax threat. Officials reiterated that passenger safety, crew security, and aircraft protection remain the highest priority during such incidents.
