The Assam has sanctioned funds for the first phase of land acquisition for developing a satellite city near Guwahati airport.
Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma said that the State Cabinet on Tuesday accorded administrative approval for utilisation of Rs 2,100.00 crore provided in the State Budget for the financial year 2026-27 under the Grant No. 73 towards land acquisition and development of the Aerotropolis Satellite City Project, Guwahati. The project will be driven by the Guwahati Satellite Cities Development Authority (GSCDA).
The project, based on the Aerotropolis model, aims to turn the area surrounding the airport into a major centre for business, industry and urban development. The initiative is expected to attract fresh investment, generate employment and support Guwahati’s long-term expansion.
The Cabinet also granted relaxation for people of Moran and Matak communities for applying for new Aadhaar enrolment till March 31 next year.
Chief Minister Sarma further said that the State Cabinet has also approved the issuance of the notification under Section 3 of the Assam Agricultural Income Tax Act, 1939 and the revised tax slabs and enhanced exemption limits. As per the decisions agricultural income tax will be exempted on the first ten lakh rupees of total agricultural income.
