On Tuesday, if you accessed Google or launched your Chrome browser, you might have observed a slight change. The homepage displayed an animated doodle. By clicking it, you are directed immediately to AI Mode, which represents Google’s latest initiative in transforming the way we conduct online searches. The doodle also included a share button.
What is Google AI Mode?
AI Mode represents Google’s innovative approach to search. Rather than merely providing a list of links, it integrates similar search results with AI-generated summaries and answers, sourcing content from various parts of the internet. The objective? To offer users faster and clearer responses.
This feature is driven by Gemini 2.5, an enhanced iteration of Google’s fundamental AI model. This technology condenses the information available on the web into succinct and valuable responses, frequently accompanied by useful links for further investigation.
“You can pose intricate questions that may have previously required several searches — such as delving into a new concept or comparing detailed alternatives — and receive a beneficial AI-powered response with links for additional learning,” Robby Stein, Google’s VP of Search, articulated in a blog post.
How does the AI Mode function?
You have the option to type, speak, or even upload images, and the artificial intelligence will understand your question and provide a response. This multi-modal feature enhances its versatility, allowing you to either ask for a recipe suggestion using a picture of your pantry or verbally pose a question you wish to have answered, and you are on your way.
