Vivo has officially launched its new Android 16-based custom interface, OriginOS 6, in India, marking a significant shift from its long-standing FunTouch OS. Previously exclusive to the Chinese market, OriginOS is now being rolled out globally, including to Indian users, with a phased deployment beginning in November 2025.

The new interface will be available on both Vivo and iQOO smartphones. The Vivo X300 series and iQOO 15 will ship with OriginOS 6 pre-installed, while existing models such as the Vivo X200 and iQOO 13 are already receiving beta versions of the update.

OriginOS 6 is built on three core pillars: smoothness, design, and artificial intelligence. It introduces the “Origin Smooth Engine,” which integrates deeply with system modules to enhance performance and responsiveness. The UI also features a translucent “Liquid Glass” aesthetic, drawing inspiration from Apple’s iOS 26, and includes visual elements like Gradual Blur and Light and Shadow Space to improve depth and clarity.

One of the standout features is “Origin Island,” a dynamic interface element akin to Apple’s Dynamic Island. Integrated with Android 16’s Live Updates system, it offers real-time contextual actions and notifications, aiming to improve multitasking and user engagement.

Vivo emphasized that the new OS aligns with its philosophy of “More Local, More Global,” suggesting that while the interface maintains a global design language, it will include region-specific customizations for Indian users.

The company has not yet released a full roadmap detailing which devices will receive the update and when, but confirmed that the rollout will proceed in stages across supported models.

With OriginOS 6, Vivo aims to deliver a more refined, fluid, and intelligent user experience, positioning itself competitively in the premium Android ecosystem.
