Chennai, September 22, 2025 — Tamil actor-composer Vijay Antony’s milestone 25th film Shakthi Thirumagan has opened to a strong box office response, collecting ₹2.2 crore across India within its first two days of release. The film, which hit theatres on September 20, blends political drama with emotional depth and marks a significant moment in Antony’s cinematic journey.
Directed by Babu Yogeswaran and produced by Infiniti Film Ventures, Shakthi Thirumagan features Antony in the role of a grassroots leader who rises from adversity to challenge systemic injustice. The film’s narrative, rooted in rural Tamil Nadu, has resonated with audiences for its socially charged themes and grounded storytelling.
Trade analysts report that the film performed well in Tier 2 and Tier 3 cities, with strong footfalls in Madurai, Coimbatore, Trichy, and Salem. Multiplexes in Chennai and Bengaluru also saw steady occupancy, driven by Antony’s loyal fan base and positive word-of-mouth.
The supporting cast includes Remya Nambeesan, Nizhalgal Ravi, and Aadukalam Naren, with music composed by Antony himself. Critics have praised the film’s emotional core, character-driven screenplay, and its restrained yet impactful political messaging.
Speaking to media after the release, Vijay Antony said, “This film is close to my heart. It reflects the struggles of ordinary people and the power of resilience. I’m grateful for the audience’s support and the team’s dedication.”
With the weekend approaching, distributors expect the film’s earnings to cross ₹5 crore by Sunday, depending on sustained momentum and regional festival turnout. Shakthi Thirumagan is currently running in over 400 screens across Tamil Nadu and select locations in Kerala, Karnataka, and Andhra Pradesh.
