A 34-year-old woman from Uttar Pradesh drove her vehicle onto a railway track in the Ranga Reddy district of Telangana, causing alarm among the staff and leading to the suspension or diversion of train services. The incident, which has gone viral in a video, occurred near Shankarpally. A 13-second clip captured the four-wheeled vehicle – a Kia Sonet – being driven along the railway tracks. Another video depicted local residents, railway staff, and police attempting to extract the woman from the car. Once the crowd succeeded in pulling her out and restraining her hands, she was heard shouting in Hindi, “open my hands,” as shown in a third clip.
A number of railway employees and police officers pursued the vehicle. They succeeded in getting her to stop the car. Approximately 20 individuals were required to extract her from the vehicle. “There was no cooperation from her,” stated one of the sources. As per Chandana Deepti, the Superintendent of Police (SP) for Railway Police, the woman exhibited aggressive behavior and seemed to be mentally unstable.
A preliminary investigation into the situation indicated that she had been employed by a multinational corporation until very recently. “She hails from Uttar Pradesh,” Ms. Deepti stated. “We have retrieved her driving license and PAN card from the vehicle,” she further mentioned. The Superintendent of Police also noted that efforts are being made to determine whether the woman intended to commit suicide and to present the incident as a homicide. According to railway sources, at least 10 to 15 passenger trains, including one traveling from Bengaluru to Hyderabad, were rerouted as a precautionary measure. The woman has been apprehended, and an investigation is currently in progress, according to the police.
