The “Fit India Cyclothon Joyride,” an exciting event that was part of the national Fit India Movement, was organized by the Sports Authority of India (SAI) STC in Car Nicobar. The Government of India launched the project in 2019 to promote physical fitness and healthy lifestyles among its inhabitants. The cyclothon started and ended at the SAI STC Centre and traveled a picturesque 15-kilometer course. Participants rode through five towns, including Tamaloo and Kinyuka. Notable stops included the home of former national rowing athlete Ms. Solomie Allen and famous sites like the ITI Boys Hostel and the Tsunami Memorial.

The occasion combined physical exercise with admiration for the rich vegetation and stunning coastline of Car Nicobar. The Nicobar Games & Sports Association’s Sports Secretary, Mr. Ahmed Ali, gave a flag-off ceremony to begin the tournament at 6:30 a.m. The eager group of 34 participants, which included fitness aficionados of all ages, was led by national weightlifting athlete Ms. Alaaska Aleena. The cyclothon effectively promoted cycling as an environmentally friendly form of transportation while highlighting the health advantages of cycling, including enhanced cardiovascular health, muscular strength, and mental well-being.

Regular physical activity, such as cycling, can lower the incidence of chronic diseases and promote healthier communities, according to the organizers. The occasion also acted as a reminder of the ability of neighborhood fitness programs to motivate long-term lifestyle adjustments. Participants left with a newfound dedication to incorporate fitness into their everyday routines, making the “Fit India Cyclothon Joyride” a memorable milestone in Car Nicobar’s health and wellness journey.
