In honor of World Book and Copyright Day, the State Library hosted an elaborate Book Exhibition to celebrate the lasting impact of books in bridging generations and cultures. This event, recognized annually on April 23 by UNESCO, seeks to encourage reading, support publishing, and uphold respect for intellectual property. The exhibition was officially opened by Mr. Vikram Singh, Director (Education), who attended as the Chief Guest. During his speech, Mr. Singh emphasized the essential part that books play in developing knowledge, igniting creativity, and nurturing critical thought.

He encouraged both students and community members to adopt reading as a lifelong practice and praised the State Library for its dedication to literacy and cultural advancement. Also in attendance were Ms. Archana Singh, Deputy Director of Education (Planning), and Mr. Ram Pravesh, Deputy Director of Education (Science). A significant number of students, school leaders, avid readers, and officials from different departments gathered at the event, showcasing a robust community enthusiasm for literature and education.

The Book Exhibition presents a remarkable assortment of over 850 titles spanning various genres. Attendees can discover books covering fiction, non-fiction, children’s literature, yoga, health, medicine, sports, geography, history, topics specific to the Andaman region, education, religion, philosophy, psychology, agriculture, the environment, preparation for competitive exams, and regional languages. The exhibition will be accessible to the public from 9:00 AM to 7:00 PM on April 24 and 25 at the State Library.
