Promoting the native handicrafts of the Islands, especially those made from wood, bamboo, coconut shells, cane, and other natural materials, has been spearheaded by the Department of Industries, A&N Administration. Sagarika Emporium is a government-run gift shop that gives regional craftspeople a place to sell their wares. This program seeks to provide premium handicrafts at affordable costs while guaranteeing craftsmen receive just compensation.
Sagarika Emporium currently has five locations throughout India thanks to this addition: three in Sri Vijaya Puram, one in Swaraj Dweep, and one in New Delhi. The department’s “No Loss No Profit” marketing approach demonstrates its dedication to maintaining the handcraft industry and assisting regional craftspeople in making a living. Deputy Director Mr. Ajit Anand, Directorate of Industries staff, and a passionate group of customers attended the first event. Sales at the festival started right away, indicating that people were very interested in the region’s distinctive handicrafts. By giving visitors the opportunity to purchase genuine, regionally produced mementos, the new store is anticipated to increase awareness of the Andaman Islands’ rich cultural legacy.
