A.S.PS. Raviprakash, IAS, Secretary and Chairman of the Andaman and Nicobar Pollution Control Committee (ANPCC), has made a sincere appeal to the public as the country celebrates Deepawali, widely known as the festival of lights. In order to ensure a safe and pollution-free celebration this festive season, Mr. Raviprakash advised everyone to exercise caution and responsibility.

Mr. Raviprakash emphasized the danger of mishaps, fires, and pollution, and suggested that the festival be monitored mindfully of environmental impact and safety. The Secretary urged citizens to refrain from blowing off firecrackers, particularly in sensitive and forbidden areas such as public roadways, hospitals, schools, places of worship, and gas stations.

He underlined that in order to lessen the effects of noise and air pollution, fireworks should only be set off between the hours that the government recommends, which are 8:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m. He added that for all citizens to be able to enjoy Deepawali in peace, participation from the public in following these rules will be essential. Mr. Raviprakash said, “Your cooperation is essential to enable your fellow citizens to celebrate the festival with joy and happiness,” urging everyone to uphold the festival’s real essence by putting safety and the welfare of the community first. The chairman of the ANPCC wished everyone a happy and prosperous Deepawali as he wrapped up his appeal.
