The Carnic Festival 2024 kicked out on November 7 at Edward Kutchat Park in Perika Village, bringing Car Nicobar Island to life with colorful celebrations. Superintendent of Police Mr. Sunny Gupta, IPS, was the honored guest at the three-day event, which was arranged by the District Administration of Car Nicobar and inaugurated by Deputy Commissioner Ms. Jyoti Kumari, IAS. Together with members of the local community, department heads participated in the opening day celebration of the island’s entrepreneurial energy and rich cultural legacy.
With traditional music, dance, and stalls run by several line departments, the Carnic Festival 2024 honors the native Nicobarese culture. Under the DAY-NRLM program, eleven Self-Help Groups (SHGs) showcased food items, organic homegrown veggies, handmade crafts, and traditional Nicobarese cuisine. SHGs were given nine stalls, giving women craftspeople a useful stage on which to display their work and promote communal and economic growth.
The National Rural Livelihood Mission at the Car Nicobar CD Block had a little staff, but the first day of the festival was a great success for the participating SHGs. Groups from Big Lapathy Village made 13,752 in sales, while Sawal Village SHGs made 12,350. The celebrations, which featured traditional Nicobarese music and enthralling cultural dances, drew villagers from all across Car Nicobar. In order to honor the spirit of the Nicobarese people and the beauty of their culture, the event will continue until November 9 and attract participants and tourists from all walks of life.
