At the ITF Pavilion at Sri Vijaya Puram, the lively Island Coconut Festival 2025, a two-day celebration of the Islands’ rich coconut legacy, begins at 2:00 PM. The Department of Tourism is organizing this year’s event, which has as its theme “Celebrating Coconut – Culture, Cuisine & Crafts of the Islands,” in partnership with related departments and associations. By exhibiting both traditional and modern uses of coconut in food, crafts, and wellness, the festival seeks to promote coconut-based tourism and livelihoods.
Visitors can anticipate a vibrant, immersive experience thanks to a variety of displays, tasting areas, and interesting events. Government agencies will set up booths with goods made from coconuts that showcase the islands’ artisanal, cultural, and economic customs. There will also be culinary products and kiosks offering coconut-based treats for guests to peruse and savor. A number of contests, such as a Coconut Rangoli event, a Coconut Dehusking Challenge, and a cookery competition focused on foods made with coconut, will be organized to spice up the celebrations.
The Department of Tourism will award cash awards to the winners of these competitions. Participants may bring prepared coconut meals from home for the cooking competition, however on-site garnishing and plating are required. The festival offers two wonderful nights full of music, vibrant memories, delectable coconut delicacies, and tropical atmosphere. On both days, it will be accessible to the general public from 2:00 PM until 8:00 PM. Everyone is welcome to take part in the festivities and discover the true spirit of the islands—through the beloved and adaptable coconut.
