Patna, October 9, 2025 — In a bold pre-election announcement, Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) leader Tejashwi Yadav has pledged to enact a law guaranteeing one government job per household within 20 days of forming a Mahagathbandhan-led government in Bihar. The promise was made during a high-energy rally in Gopalganj, where Yadav addressed thousands of supporters ahead of the upcoming state assembly elections.

Calling employment the “first and foremost right of every family,” Yadav stated that the proposed legislation would be a cornerstone of the Mahagathbandhan’s governance agenda. “Within 20 days of taking office, we will pass a law that ensures one government job for every household. This is not a slogan—it’s a commitment,” he declared.

The announcement marks a significant escalation in the Mahagathbandhan’s campaign strategy, positioning employment as a central issue amid rising concerns over job scarcity and migration. Yadav emphasized that the law would be backed by budgetary provisions and administrative reforms to ensure transparency and feasibility.

Political analysts view the move as a direct challenge to the incumbent NDA government, which has faced criticism over unemployment and economic stagnation in the state. Yadav also took aim at Chief Minister Nitish Kumar and BJP leaders, accusing them of failing to deliver on past promises and neglecting youth aspirations.

The proposed job guarantee law would reportedly prioritize families without any formal employment, with special provisions for backward classes, women, and marginalized communities. Yadav hinted at leveraging existing vacancies in education, healthcare, and rural development departments to fulfill the commitment.

While the announcement has energized Mahagathbandhan supporters, critics have questioned the financial viability and administrative capacity required to implement such a sweeping policy. BJP spokespersons dismissed the promise as “electoral theatrics,” demanding clarity on funding and execution.

Tejashwi Yadav, however, remained firm, stating, “We’ve done the homework. Bihar deserves bold action, not excuses. This law will be our first signature of change.”

The Mahagathbandhan alliance, comprising RJD, Congress, CPI(ML), and other regional parties, is expected to release its full manifesto later this week. The Bihar assembly elections are scheduled to begin in late October, with results expected in November.
