Tata Digital is set to appoint Sajith Sivanandan as its new CEO starting September 1, marking the third leadership change in under two years. Sivanandan, formerly with Google and Reliance’s Jio platforms, most recently served as president of Jio Mobile Digital Services and previously led JioHotstar. He also spent over 15 years at Google, where he played a key role in building Google Pay in India and the Asia-Pacific region.
His appointment comes amid efforts to stabilize leadership at Tata Digital following the exits of former CEOs Pratik Pal in February 2024 and Naveen Tahilyani in May 2025. Coinciding with this leadership shift, Tata Digital will also relocate to a new headquarters at One International Centre in Lower Parel, reducing its monthly rent from ₹3 crore to ₹1 crore.
Additionally, Tata Sons plans to inject $400 million into the digital arm, aiming to reinvigorate its super app initiative. Despite combining BigBasket, Tata 1mg, and Tata Cliq under Tata Neu since 2021, the platform has struggled to compete in India’s fast-evolving e-commerce space. Sivanandan’s arrival signals a potential turning point.
