Borussia Dortmund secured their place in the FIFA Club World Cup round of 16 with a narrow 1–0 victory over South Korea’s Ulsan HD on Wednesday, thanks to a decisive first-half goal from Daniel Svensson.

The match, played under sweltering conditions at TQL Stadium, saw Dortmund dominate possession and chances from the outset. The German side’s attacking trio—Jobe Bellingham, Felix Nmecha, and Karim Adeyemi—kept Ulsan’s defense under constant pressure. The breakthrough came in the 36th minute when Bellingham delivered a precise pass to Svensson, who calmly slotted home from close range.

Despite several opportunities to extend their lead, Dortmund were repeatedly denied by Ulsan goalkeeper Jo Hyeon-woo, who made key saves against Serhou Guirassy and Pascal Gross. Ulsan responded with a more spirited second half, with Lee Jin-hyun testing Dortmund keeper Gregor Kobel, but they failed to find an equalizer.

Dortmund finished top of Group F with seven points, ahead of Fluminense, who drew 0–0 with Mamelodi Sundowns in the group’s other fixture. Ulsan exited the tournament without a point, having lost all three of their matches.

With this result, Dortmund advances to face the runner-up from Group E—either River Plate, Inter Milan, or Monterrey—in the round of 16 on July 1 in Atlanta.
