As part of the ongoing week-long Anti-Drug Awareness Programme organized by the Science Wing of the Directorate of Education, Andaman and Nicobar Administration, a vibrant ‘Painting Day’ was held on June 25, 2025, at the State Library, Middle Point. The event served as a platform for young minds to creatively express their commitment to a drug-free lifestyle.

More than 100 students from schools across Sri Vijaya Puram enthusiastically participated in the event. Divided into two categories—junior (Classes VI to VIII) and senior (Classes IX to XII)—students took part in themed competitions tailored to promote anti-drug consciousness.

In the junior segment, a Poster Making Competition on the theme “Say No to Drugs” encouraged participants to create vivid illustrations accompanied by compelling slogans. Senior students channeled their creativity into designing impactful logos for Anti-Drug T-shirts, each carrying strong messages advocating sobriety and wellness.

A unique highlight of the day was the ‘Value Tree’ activity, during which students reflected on and shared personal values that help guide them toward purposeful and disciplined lives. The exercise aimed to deepen their sense of self-awareness and ethical decision-making.

Director of Education, Mr. Vikram Singh, attended the programme as the chief guest and delivered an inspiring address. He shared a motivational anecdote, encouraging students to embrace resilience, make conscious choices, and remain steadfast in their commitment to a drug-free future.

To reinforce continuity and reflection, each day of the campaign begins with a recap session, enabling participants to revisit key takeaways and share insights from previous events.

As part of Day 4 activities, an Anti-Drug Awareness Rally is scheduled for June 26, 2025, at 10:00 a.m. The rally will begin at the historic National Memorial Cellular Jail and conclude at the State Library, serving as a public call to action against substance abuse across the community.
