
The Department of Education, A&N Administration, in collaboration with the Bakultala Panchayat, successfully hosted an engaging Street Chess event at Bakultala Junction, attracting a large and enthusiastic crowd of chess enthusiasts from the local area and beyond.
The busy junction was transformed into a lively outdoor chess venue, where people of all ages participated in friendly matches. The atmosphere was filled with excitement, thoughtful gameplay, and curious onlookers, capturing the true spirit and joy of chess.
The event was officially inaugurated by Shri V. Ranjit Kumar, Assistant Director (PE/Sports), DEO Rangat, and Shri Bishunu Pada Mondal, Samiti Member, Bakultala, who made the ceremonial first move to begin the program.
In his speech, the Assistant Director emphasized chess’s rising popularity in the islands, highlighting its role in improving focus, decision-making, and reducing children’s dependency on screens.
The event saw enthusiastic participation from schoolchildren and the public. Participants were honored with gifts, while GSSS Bakultala’s principal and staff were instrumental in organizing and encouraging widespread community involvement.
