Indian squash players have made a strong impact at the PSA World Championships, with two debutants delivering stunning performances and four players advancing to the second round. Young talent Anahat Singh (Rank 62) defeated Marina Stefanoni (USA, Rank 28) in a five-game thriller, clinching victory 10-12, 11-9, 6-11, 11-6, 11-6. Veer Chotrani (Rank 57) made an impressive debut as well, overcoming Declan James (ENG, Rank 28) in a hard-fought four-game battle (11-9, 9-11, 12-10, 16-14).

Alongside Singh and Chotrani, Abhay Singh (Rank 38) triumphed over Nicolas Mueller (SUI, Rank 25) in four games (11-7, 2-11, 11-7, 11-6), while Ramit Tandon (Rank 34) secured a victory against Ryunosuke Tsukue (JPN, Rank 50) with scores of 10-12, 11-7, 13-11, 11-7.

The second round will see Singh face World No. 15 Fayrouz Aboelkheir (EGY), Chotrani up against four-time champion Ali Farag (EGY), Abhay Singh taking on World No. 13 Youssef Ibrahim (EGY), and Tandon competing against World No. 7 Marwan Elshorbagy (EGY). This strong showing comes at a crucial time, with squash set to make its Olympic debut at the Los Angeles 2028 Games.
