In Bengaluru, relentless downpours over the past 36 hours have caused severe flooding, disrupting daily life. Roads such as Hosur Road and Silk Board Junction are submerged, making travel difficult. Among the casualties, two residents in Bengaluru were electrocuted while attempting to clear floodwater from their apartment. Another fatality occurred when a wall collapsed in Mahadevapura, killing a 35-year-old woman. Additionally, two people in Raichur and Karwar lost their lives due to lightning strikes.
In Tamil Nadu, three people died after a wall collapse in Madurai district during Monday’s heavy rain. The victims included a 10-year-old boy and his grandmother.
The IMD has warned of further intense weather due to an expected cyclonic circulation over the Arabian Sea. Residents across the affected states are advised to stay indoors and remain alert as the monsoon’s early arrival is anticipated within the next five days.
