Sri Vijaya Puram, July 11, 2025 — In a spirited initiative to empower young girls through intellectual sports, the Directorate of Education, in collaboration with the Andaman Nicobar Chess Association (ANCA), will host the Smart Girls (Under-19) Chess Tournament – 2025 on July 12 and 13 at the auditorium of Govt. Girls Senior Secondary School, Sri Vijaya Puram.
Organized under the national flagship scheme “Beti Bachao, Beti Padhao”, the tournament aims to foster strategic thinking, confidence, and competitive spirit among female students. The event is expected to draw enthusiastic participation from across the region, providing a platform for young talents to showcase their prowess in chess.
Registered participants have been listed on Chess-Results, and all contenders are required to report at the venue by 8:30 AM sharp on July 12. The tournament will follow standard Swiss-system rules, with multiple rounds scheduled across the two days.
Officials from the Directorate of Education and ANCA will be present to oversee the proceedings and encourage the players. The initiative reflects a broader commitment to gender equity in sports and education, reinforcing the importance of inclusive opportunities for young women.
