Security forces in Jammu and Kashmir achieved a major success on Friday by uncovering a terrorist hideout in the Nougam sector of Kupwara district. Acting on credible intelligence inputs regarding militant movement in the area, a joint operation was launched by personnel from the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF), the Special Operations Group (SOG), and the Army’s Rajputana Rifles (Raj Rif).
During the search, the forces discovered a well-concealed hideout stocked with arms and ammunition. The recovery included two MP4 rifles, two pistols, two grenades, and 43 rounds of live ammunition. The hideout was dismantled on the spot, preventing its future use by militants.
Officials confirmed that the operation was part of ongoing efforts to counter cross-border terrorism and disrupt militant networks in north Kashmir. The recovery of sophisticated weapons highlights the continued attempts by terror groups to infiltrate and destabilize the region.
Security forces emphasized that such operations are critical to maintaining peace and stability in border districts like Kupwara, which remain vulnerable due to their proximity to the Line of Control (LoC). The successful bust of the hideout is expected to significantly weaken militant capabilities in the area.
