Mumbai, July 17, 2025 — Bollywood superstar Salman Khan has described his upcoming war drama Battle of Galwan as the most physically challenging project of his career, citing intense action sequences, high-altitude shooting conditions, and demanding training routines.
Directed by Apoorva Lakhia, the film is based on the 2020 Galwan Valley clash between Indian and Chinese troops, a brutal hand-to-hand combat fought at over 15,000 feet above sea level. Khan portrays Colonel Santosh Babu, the commanding officer of the 16 Bihar Regiment, who led Indian forces during the confrontation.
Speaking at a press event for the Indian Supercross Racing League, Khan said, “Every year, every month, every day it gets more and more difficult. I’ve to give more time now for training. Earlier, I would do it in one or two weeks, now I’m running, kicking, punching, and all that stuff. This film demands that”.
The actor revealed that the production team will head to Ladakh later this month for a 20-day shoot, including eight days of filming in freezing water. “When I was signing the film, I thought it’s amazing but it’s a very, very difficult film to do,” he added.
Unlike his traditional Eid releases, Battle of Galwan is slated for a January 2026 theatrical debut. Khan also confirmed that a sequel to his 2015 hit Bajrangi Bhaijaan is in development, promising a fresh storyline with similar emotional depth.
The film, inspired by the book India’s Most Fearless 3 by Shiv Aroor and Rahul Singh, aims to honor the valor of Indian soldiers who fought without firearms due to standing agreements. Twenty Indian Army personnel lost their lives in the clash, marking one of the most serious military confrontations between India and China in decades.
