India’s women’s cricket team continued their dominant run in the white-ball series, defeating England by 24 runs in the second T20 International at the County Ground in Bristol. The win, powered by half-centuries from Jemimah Rodrigues and Amanjot Kaur, gave India a commanding 2–0 lead in the five-match series.
Opting to bat first, India overcame early setbacks to post a formidable 181 for 4 in 20 overs. The innings was anchored by a 93-run fourth-wicket partnership between Rodrigues (63 off 41 balls) and Amanjot (63* off 40 balls), who both registered fluent fifties. Their stand rescued India from a precarious 31 for 3 after the powerplay. Richa Ghosh added late impetus with an unbeaten 32 off 22 deliveries, helping India amass 117 runs in the final 10 overs.
England’s chase faltered early, with the hosts reduced to 17 for 3 inside four overs. Tammy Beaumont (54 off 35) and Amy Jones (32) staged a brief recovery with a 70-run stand, but disciplined Indian bowling and sharp fielding—including three run-outs—restricted England to 157 for 7. Left-arm spinner Shree Charani impressed again with figures of 2 for 28, while Amanjot chipped in with the key wicket of Nat Sciver-Brunt.
Amanjot was named Player of the Match for her all-round performance, marking her maiden T20I half-century and a crucial breakthrough with the ball. “Wherever we play, home or away, we are ready to dominate. That was our plan and we did that today,” she said post-match.
India will look to seal the series in the third T20I, scheduled for July 4 at The Oval in London.
