Actor Ram Kapoor said he used to eat an entire bucket of KFC alone earlier, and that he decided to get fit after crossing the age of 50 because of some strict warnings from his doctor.

Actor Ram Kapoor opened up about his decision to get healthy and said he once weighed 140 kg. The actor also spoke on rumours that he was consuming the controversial drug Ozempic or any other variant of it, and said he had not done so. In an interview, Ram said that his doctor’s strict warnings motivated him to adopt a healthy lifestyle, and revealed that he was told that he wouldn’t be able to live long if he continued on this path. He has now lost a lot of weight, but was recently embroiled in a controversy for making inappropriate comments during the press tour of his new show Mystery.

Appearing on Bharti Singh and her husband Harsh Limbachiyaa’s podcast, he talked about his drastic weight loss. “Try maintaining 140 kilos, it’s not easy,” he joked. His co-star Mona Singh reminded him of eating an entire bucket of KFC alone. “(To slim down) you have to completely change your mindset. And when your mindset changes, every day you measure how much water you have drunk, how much you have slept, how much you have exercised,” he added. Ram recalled his ill health two years ago.

“When I was shooting for Niyat in Scotland, I was at my worst. I was taking insulin shots three times a day before every meal. I weighed 140 kilos and my sugar levels were very high. My doctor told me I was working too much and I was so unhealthy that I could have a diabetic stroke. I was so unhealthy. I had to make changes, otherwise I wouldn’t have lived much longer.”

He said he had promised his son that he would start taking better care of himself when he turned 50 and that he would not stop until he had six-pack abs. “When I started this journey, I said I want to reach the pinnacle of health. I want to be the best I can be. I’m still a work in progress. I want to set the best example for my son. If I want him to be healthy, I have to be healthy.”

Ram said it was a risk to change his appearance so much, as the audience accepted him the way he was for 25 years. “A doctor told me I had to start Ozempic or Monjaro because of the bad condition I was in. Otherwise I could have had a diabetic stroke. If I was not fit, I would have 100% accepted it, because I trust my doctor. He takes care of my whole family, he is my friend. He said, ‘You have two options, either you change yourself, or you will die.’

Ram Kapoor admitted to making inappropriate comments during the press tour for Mistry and said that he would not have spoken in an offensive manner if he was told that it was wrong. Reacting to the controversy, his television colleague Sudhanshu Pandey said that making such statements is a sign of mental imbalance.
