
Congress leader and Leader of the Opposition in the Lok Sabha, Rahul Gandhi, turned 55 on Thursday, drawing a wave of birthday wishes from party colleagues, INDIA bloc allies, and even political opponents.
Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge led the tributes, calling Gandhi a “true crusader for justice” and praising his unwavering commitment to the Constitution and to the millions whose voices often go unheard. “Your actions consistently reflect the Congress party’s ideology of unity in diversity, harmony, and compassion,” Kharge wrote on X.
Tamil Nadu Chief Minister and DMK leader M.K. Stalin described Gandhi as his “brother-in-ideals — bound not by blood, but by thought, vision, and purpose.” He added, “May you continue to stand firm and lead with courage. In our march towards a brighter India, victory shall be ours.”
Samajwadi Party chief Akhilesh Yadav extended his wishes, lauding Gandhi’s “inclusive, accommodative and comprehensive socio-political activism.” NCP (SP) MP Supriya Sule and RJD leader Tejashwi Yadav also conveyed their greetings, wishing him health, success, and longevity.
Congress general secretary K.C. Venugopal hailed Gandhi’s courage to “take on fascists without fear” and his message of love triumphing over hate. He credited Gandhi’s leadership during the Bharat Jodo Yatra and Bharat Jodo Nyay Yatra for inspiring hope among millions facing economic and social injustice.
Even Prime Minister Narendra Modi extended birthday greetings, posting on X: “Birthday greetings to the Leader of the Opposition in the Lok Sabha, Shri Rahul Gandhi. May he be blessed with a long and healthy life.”
To mark the occasion, the Indian Youth Congress organized a large-scale job fair at New Delhi’s Talkatora Stadium, offering thousands of employment opportunities across sectors.
Born on 19 June 1970, Rahul Gandhi is the son of former Prime Minister Rajiv Gandhi and Congress MP Sonia Gandhi. Over the years, he has emerged as a central figure in the Opposition, known for his vocal criticism of the ruling government and his advocacy for social justice and democratic values.
