Congress leader Priyanka Gandhi Vadra launched a sharp critique of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) during her campaign trail in Bihar, accusing the ruling party of focusing on the past and future while neglecting the pressing concerns of the present. Addressing a public rally in Bachhwara, Begusarai, she alleged that the BJP government has weakened national institutions and fostered division among citizens.

Priyanka Gandhi emphasized that despite India’s rich cultural heritage and historical contributions, states like Bihar continue to suffer from underdevelopment, unemployment, and inflation. “This land of yours is sacred, it walks alongside Mother Ganga. From here, Gandhiji began his movement against the British. This country has given great leaders, patriots, poets—but where is the progress today?” she asked.

She accused the BJP of promoting false nationalism and engaging in divisive politics that distract from real issues. Referring to the NDA’s promise of creating one crore jobs in Bihar, she questioned the timing and sincerity of the announcement. “Why are they talking about it now? Why haven’t they delivered on this promise till today?” she said during a media interaction at Patna airport.

Priyanka also reiterated allegations of electoral malpractice, claiming that 65 lakh votes were cut in previous elections—a charge she described as “vote-chori.” She urged voters to recognize the gap between political promises and ground realities, and to demand accountability from those in power.

The Congress leader is campaigning for party candidates Garib Das in Bachhwara and Mithilesh Kumar in Beldaur, both of whom are contesting in multi-cornered fights that include candidates from CPI and other regional parties.

Her remarks come amid heightened political activity in Bihar ahead of the upcoming assembly elections, where employment, migration, and governance remain key voter concerns.
