Paradeep, Odisha, September 27, 2025 — Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated and laid the foundation stone for a series of development projects worth over ₹60,000 crore during his visit to Odisha, marking a significant push for infrastructure, energy, and industrial growth in the eastern state.

Addressing a large gathering at Paradeep, PM Modi emphasized the strategic importance of Odisha in India’s economic future and reiterated the government’s commitment to inclusive development. He stated that Odisha is becoming a strong pillar of Viksit Bharat and that these projects will boost employment, improve connectivity, and strengthen energy security.

Among the major initiatives launched were expansions in oil and gas infrastructure, including upgrades to the Indian Oil Corporation’s Paradeep refinery. Port and logistics development projects were also unveiled to enhance maritime trade efficiency and support industrial hubs. Railway and highway expansions aim to improve regional connectivity and facilitate faster movement of goods. Power and renewable energy projects, including solar and wind installations, were introduced to promote clean energy and strengthen the grid. Additionally, skill development centres and employment schemes targeting youth and women were launched, especially in tribal and coastal regions.

The Prime Minister interacted with beneficiaries of various central schemes and praised Odisha’s cultural heritage and resilience. He highlighted the state’s role in India’s mineral and energy sectors and called for greater private investment to unlock its full potential.

Union Ministers, senior officials, and Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik were present at the event. The launch comes ahead of the 2026 general elections and is seen as part of the Centre’s broader strategy to accelerate development in eastern India.

These projects are expected to generate thousands of jobs and catalyse long-term economic growth in the region, reinforcing Odisha’s position as a key player in India’s industrial and energy landscape.
