Shortly after the GST revisions were revealed, Prime Minister Narendra Modi expressed his approval of them on the social media platform X, writing: “I had stated in my Independence Day Speech that we planned to adopt the Next-Generation improvements in the GST. The objective of the Union Government’s all-encompassing plan for broad GST rate rationalization and process enhancements was to raise the average citizen’s standard of living and stimulate the economy. I’m happy to report that the Union Government’s suggestions for GST rate cuts and reforms, which will benefit the average person, farmers, MSMEs, middle-class people, women, and young people, have been welcomed by the @GST_Council, which is made up of the Union and the States. The extensive reforms will enhance the quality of life for our inhabitants and guarantee that conducting business is simple for everyone, particularly small firms and merchants.
