Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday hailed Operation Sudarshan Chakra as a decisive step in strengthening India’s national security, describing it as a “wall of security” that will shield the nation against external threats.

Speaking at the Laksha Kantha Gita Parayana event in Udupi, where one lakh devotees recited verses from the Bhagavad Gita, the Prime Minister invoked the teachings of Lord Krishna to underline the importance of confronting oppressors to restore peace and truth. “The Gita teaches us that it is important to end the oppressor to restore peace. This is the essence of our national security policy,” Modi said.

The prime minister contrasted the current government’s approach with that of previous administrations, criticizing them for failing to retaliate after terror attacks. “Earlier governments used to sit idle after terror attacks. But new India neither bows down nor hesitates in protecting its people,” he remarked.

Operation Sudarshan Chakra, announced by Modi during his Independence Day address from the Red Fort, is a long-term mission aimed at bolstering India’s security infrastructure over the next decade. The initiative envisions building impregnable defenses around key national assets and ensuring swift retaliation against any hostile action.

Modi emphasized that India’s security doctrine is rooted in the principle of Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam (the world is one family), balanced with the resolve to crush perpetrators of violence. He added that the mission symbolizes India’s readiness to destroy enemies if they dare to attack. “Our Sudarshan Chakra will destroy them,” he declared.

The event in Udupi carried strong spiritual and cultural undertones, with Modi linking the mission to the divine symbolism of Lord Krishna’s Sudarshan Chakra. He noted that just days earlier he had visited Kurukshetra, the birthplace of the Gita, and now stood on the sacred land of Udupi, reinforcing the spiritual foundation of India’s security vision.

Political observers view Operation Sudarshan Chakra as part of the government’s broader strategy to project strength and resilience in the face of cross-border terrorism and regional instability. The mission is expected to involve coordinated efforts across defense, intelligence, and infrastructure sectors to create a comprehensive security shield.

The Prime Minister’s remarks drew applause from the gathering, with supporters highlighting the blend of cultural heritage and national security in his speech. Analysts suggest that the invocation of the Gita and Krishna’s Sudarshan Chakra serves both as a symbolic reassurance to citizens and a stern warning to adversaries.
