Fintech major Paytm announced its partnership with AI startup Perplexity to integrate search features into its app. This integration will allow users to ask questions, explore topics in Indian languages, and make financial decisions.
Describing the collaboration as a significant step in merging AI and mobile payments, Paytm revealed that the chatbot will be available as a button on the app. This launch follows Paytm’s use of AI automation internally, which reduced employee costs by 10-15%.
Paytm founder Vijay Shekhar Sharma emphasized the need for local data training to shift from search to AI-driven actionable insights, highlighting the industry’s progress. Perplexity co-founder Aravind Srinivas echoed this sentiment, stating that AI will enhance everyday interactions and digital experiences.
Sharma added, “AI is transforming how people access information and make decisions. With Perplexity, we are bringing the power of AI to millions of Indian consumers, making knowledge and financial services more seamless and accessible.”
