Mumbai, July 21, 2025 — Maddock Films has officially postponed the release of its upcoming romantic drama Param Sundari, starring Sidharth Malhotra and Janhvi Kapoor, from its original July 25 date to late August or early September, citing strategic concerns over box office competition and genre saturation.
Initially believed to be a move to avoid clashing with Ajay Devgn’s Son of Sardaar 2, the delay is now understood to be primarily driven by the back-to-back release of two major romantic dramas — Anurag Basu’s Metro…In Dino and Mohit Suri’s Saiyaara — both of which have garnered strong audience traction. Additionally, Dhadak 2, starring Siddhant Chaturvedi and Triptii Dimri, is slated for release on August 1, further intensifying the romantic lineup.
A source close to the production stated, “Param Sundari has its own voice. With two romantic dramas releasing in quick succession, the makers didn’t want it to be reduced to just another love story. They felt the film would benefit from a breather.”
The film is now expected to release on August 29 or September 5, allowing it a clearer runway and distinct narrative space. The delay is also being used to enhance promotional efforts. A new song is reportedly being filmed, timed to coincide with Sidharth Malhotra’s availability following his recent transition into fatherhood.
Directed by Tushar Jalota, known for Dasvi, Param Sundari is described as a poignant cross-cultural romance between a North Indian man and a South Indian woman. The film promises a fresh pairing and a modern take on love, infused with Maddock Films’ signature emotional depth and visual flair.
An official announcement regarding the revised release date is expected soon. Meanwhile, anticipation continues to build around the film’s unique positioning in a crowded romantic season.
