Suniel Shetty claimed that the mimicry artist at an event in Bhopal hasn’t seen his action films. He told the artist that he has a long way to go before he can imitate Suniel Shetty.
Suniel Shetty’s signature style of dialogue delivery is etched in the minds of all 90s kids. Though he doesn’t act in films as much as he used to, many mimicry artists still keep the style alive by imitating him in their shows. But Suniel was not impressed at all by a mimicry artist at an event in Bhopal, and claimed that he has never seen a worse mimicry artist.
In a video going viral on Reddit, Sunil is seen telling a mimicry artist on stage, “Ye bhaisahab tab se alag diyaal bol rahe hain jo meri awaz me hai hi nahi. Itna ghatiya mimicry maine kabhi dekha hi nahi hai. Jab Sunil Shetty bolta hai tab ek mard ki tarah bol rahe tha (This gentleman is speaking many dialogues that are not even in my voice. I have not seen a worse mimicry than this. When Sunil Shetty speaks, he speaks like a man. This one is speaking like a child).
He added, “Jab aap mimicry karti ho toh achhi karni chahiye. Bad imitation nahi karni chahiye kisi ki.” The mimicry artist then apologised and claimed that he was not imitating Sunil, to which the actor replied, “Don’t even try beta. Abhi Sunil Shetty banne maine bahut time hai. Baal baande se kuch nahi hota.”
Sunil then called the mimicry artist a “bachcha” and then said, “Sunil Shetty ki action films dekhiye nahi hai isne. Kabhi bole to aajama bhi sakta hoon.” The crowd present at the event reacted strongly, as the mimicry artist kept feeling embarrassed by Sunil’s reaction.
Sunil Shetty, who started his acting career with Deepak Anand’s 1992 action film Balwaan, has since appeared in memorable films like Dilwale, Mohra, Gopi Kishan (1994), Border (1997), Hu Tu Tu (1999), Hera Pheri, Refugee, Dhadak (2000), Awara Pagal Deewana (2002), Main Hoon Na (2004), Dus (2005) and Darbar (2020). He recently appeared in the film Kesari Veer and Amazon MXPlayer’s show Hunter Season 2. He will next be seen in the comedy films Welcome to the Jungle and Hera Pheri 3.
Shetty recently came under fire online after she suggested that a C-section was an easier option than a natural delivery. “In a world where everyone wants the comfort of a caesarean delivery, she (Athiya Shetty, daughter) opted for a natural delivery instead. I remember every nurse and paediatrician at the hospital said it was unbelievable how she pulled off the whole process,” Shetty had said.
