Megha Engineering and Infrastructures Limited (MEIL), a Hyderabad-based infrastructure giant, has secured a landmark USD 225.5 million (KWD 69.23 million) contract from the Kuwait Oil Company (KOC) to design, construct, operate, and maintain a New Gas Sweetening and Sulphur Recovery Facility (NGSF) in West Kuwait’s oilfields.
The project will be developed on a Build-Own-Operate (BOO) basis, with an option for KOC to buy back the facility. Located near Booster Station BS-171, the facility will be executed in two phases: a 790-day Execution Phase followed by a five-year Operation and Maintenance (O&M) Phase.
The NGSF will include a Sulphur Recovery Unit (SRU) comprising two trains, aimed at enhancing Kuwait’s energy infrastructure and environmental safety. MEIL’s Director P. Doraiah stated, “We are honoured to partner with Kuwait Oil Company for this strategic gas sweetening facility in West Kuwait. This project reflects MEIL’s commitment to delivering world-class energy infrastructure that enhances operational efficiency and sustainability”.
This contract marks a significant milestone in MEIL’s international expansion, reinforcing its presence in the Middle East’s oil and gas sector.
