Mr. Naval Kishore Bara tragically lost his life on July 20, 2025, when a large, hollow tree collapsed on his home during a sudden thunderstorm at around 1:30 PM in Anna Nagar village, under Hope Town Panchayat in South Andaman. At a press conference, Wimberlygunj Zilla Parishad Member Ms. Mariyam Bibi detailed the heartbreaking incident and praised the swift response from local authorities and residents. Upon receiving the alert, PRI members, the Panchayat Pradhan, officials from Bambooflat Tehsil, the Forest Department, Fire Services, and villagers rushed to the scene. Mr. Kishore, who had been sitting outside after lunch, was critically injured by a falling branch that struck his lower body. His wife and toddler were rescued unharmed. He was taken to CHC Bambooflat, but ferry delays and a damaged bridge complicated his transfer to GB Pant Hospital. With emergency support, he was moved but succumbed later due to internal injuries. His devastated family now faces an uncertain future. Local leaders have requested compensation and livelihood support for the widow, and authorities have promised timely assistance.
