Cinematic history was made on February 24, 2026, as legends Amitabh Bachchan and Kamal Haasan officially began filming for Kalki 2, the highly anticipated sequel to Nag Ashwin’s dystopian epic Kalki 2898 AD. Taking to his personal blog, the 83-year-old Bachchan shared heartwarming behind-the-scenes images from a massive set in Shankarpally, Hyderabad, showing the two icons sharing a warm embrace. This marks their first on-screen collaboration in nearly 40 years, their last joint appearance being in the 1985 blockbuster Geraftaar. While both were part of the first Kalki film in 2024, they did not share any screen time, making this face-to-face reunion a monumental event for Indian cinema.
Bachchan, reprising his powerhouse role as the immortal warrior Ashwatthama, revealed that he even had to skip his legendary “Sunday Darshan” in Mumbai to prioritize the shoot. Kamal Haasan, who returns as the terrifying antagonist Supreme Yaskin, is expected to have a significantly expanded role in the sequel, with the current schedule focusing on high-stakes, dialogue-heavy confrontations between the two veterans.
