The Directorate of IP&T organized an engaging Scientific Expedition for students of Sri Vijaya Puram and nearby areas, offering them a rare opportunity to explore the captivating world of Amateur Radio (HAM Radio). The event, held at the picturesque Andaman Sunset View Resort in Mouwa Dera, Kurma Dera, brought together 35 enthusiastic students from classes VI to IX of government schools, who interacted with experts from DX Adventure, Belgium.
HAM Radio, a global communication system that enables licensed operators to transmit and receive signals for non-commercial purposes, was the focal point of this hands-on expedition. The initiative aimed to spark the students’ interest in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) by introducing them to the basics of radio wave propagation, communication techniques, and the vital role of HAM Radio in emergency situations.
