Chennai, July 24, 2025 — Veteran actor and filmmaker Kamal Haasan has publicly praised the upcoming Tamil-language film Maareesan, calling it “a brilliant dance between wit and depth” ahead of its theatrical release on July 25. Directed by Sudheesh Sankar and produced by R.B. Choudary under the Super Good Films banner, the film stars Fahadh Faasil and Vadivelu in lead roles.
Taking to social media platform X (formerly Twitter), Haasan shared his admiration for the film, stating that it left him “laughing, thinking, and admiring its craft.” He commended the film’s ability to balance humor with a socially conscious narrative, describing it as the kind of inventive and spirited cinema he naturally gravitates toward both as a viewer and creator.
Maareesan follows the story of Dhaya (Fahadh Faasil), a cunning thief who attempts to exploit Velayudham (Vadivelu), an elderly man battling Alzheimer’s disease. What begins as a calculated con evolves into an emotionally transformative road trip, exploring themes of vulnerability, redemption, and human connection.
The film reunites Faasil and Vadivelu following their acclaimed collaboration in Maamannan (2023). Their on-screen chemistry is expected to be a highlight, blending Vadivelu’s signature comic timing with Faasil’s intense dramatic style.
The supporting cast includes Vivek Prasanna, Sithara, Renuka, PL Thenappan, Livingston, Saravana Subbiah, Krishna, Haritha, and Telephone Raja. Music is composed by Yuvan Shankar Raja, with cinematography by Kalaiselvan Sivaji and editing by Sreejith Sarang. V. Krishna Moorthy, credited with the story, screenplay, and dialogues, also serves as the film’s creative director.
Haasan’s endorsement has amplified anticipation for Maareesan, which is being positioned as a socially reflective yet entertaining cinematic experience. With its unique narrative and strong ensemble, the film is expected to resonate with audiences seeking both emotional depth and cultural relevance.
