The Sajjan Jindal-led JSW Group is expanding its footprint in the automotive sector with plans to launch its own line of cars and trucks. This development follows over a year after the company announced a joint venture with MG Motor India.

A new automotive division, JSW Motor, has been established and will operate independently from the JSW-MG partnership. JSW Motor will focus on electric, hybrid, and advanced vehicles, supported by a planned investment of $3 billion over the next five years.

The first vehicle—either an electric or plug-in hybrid—is slated for launch in the second quarter of 2026. CEO Ranjan Nayak stated that the company aims to release three to four models in 2026 and another three in 2027, with a goal of introducing at least one model every quarter to diversify India’s EV offerings.

JSW Motor is also developing a 630-acre automotive hub in Bidkin, Chhatrapati Sambhaji Nagar, Maharashtra. The facility will begin with a production capacity of 500,000 cars annually, which will later scale up to two million units over the next five to six years.
