John Robert Babu, the President of the District Congress Committee (DCC) for South Andaman, has called upon the Andaman and Nicobar Administration to promptly take action to resolve the challenges faced by inter-island students living in the hostels of Jawaharlal Nehru Rajkeeya Mahavidyalaya (JNRM), located in Sri Vijaya Puram.
In a correspondence directed to the Chief Secretary of the Andaman and Nicobar Islands, Babu emphasized the frequent closures of hostel messes during semester examinations and following vacation periods, which compels students to seek meals externally. He pointed out that this predicament disproportionately impacts students hailing from remote islands, many of whom belong to economically disadvantaged backgrounds.
