Friends star Jennifer Aniston has revealed how her divorce from Brad Pitt affected her and how she coped with the media spotlight following the separation.

Actress Jennifer Aniston and Brad Pitt were introduced by their managers in 1994 and the two got married at the turn of the century. Pitt became Hollywood’s ‘it’ man, while Aniston began to make her mark as a true television star with Friends, but they were not destined to get along and broke up in 2005. In a recent interview, Aniston opened up a little about her divorce and how she coped with the spotlight during that difficult period.

Speaking to Vanity Fair, Jennifer Aniston recalled an interview she gave to the same institution shortly after the divorce. She described it as a “harrowing experience” and explained that it was a very vulnerable time for her. She said, “I hadn’t read that article in a long time. I just remember the experience of writing it, which was a little weird. It was a delicate period as well. But yeah, it was a memoir worth writing.”

In 2006, when Jennifer Aniston was dealing with her divorce, she was offered the role of Brooke Meyers in the film “The Break-Up”. The actress admitted that given everything going on in her personal life, the producers were not very confident when they offered her the film.

She said, “I felt a little relieved after that. So when they came to me, they were a little nervous about making the offer because they thought, ‘Oh, is this insensitive? Is this inappropriate?’ But I actually thought, ‘What a great opportunity this is.’ I knew it would really benefit me emotionally as a human being, and would also be great for the script and the character.”

The Friends star also admitted that the media coverage of his divorce bothered him a lot and said that he didn’t have the courage to let it get to him. The actor said, “It was very interesting for people to read it. If they didn’t have soap operas, they had tabloids. It’s a pity that it had to happen, but it did. And I took it very personally. We’re human beings, even if some people don’t want to believe that we’re human beings. They think, ‘You agreed to this, so accept it.’ But we didn’t really agree to it.” Jennifer Aniston will next be seen in season 4 of The Morning Show, which will be available for streaming on Apple TV+ from September 17. Brad Pitt, on the other hand, is still enjoying his last film, F1, which has become the actor’s highest-grossing film to date. He is currently shooting for The Adventures of Cliff Booth, directed by David Fincher.
